BIOGRAPHY
Suraya Alidu is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Communication . She was born and bred in Kumasi, Ghana where she earned her Diploma in Journalism, as well as Bachelor's in Communication Studies. She holds a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from Texas State University. She is one of the recipients of the USF Graduate Council’s Presidential Doctoral Fellowship.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of health, interpersonal and intercultural communication, especially among marginalized settings. She is passionate about women's reproductive health, especially women with disabilities, in patient-provider relationship dynamics.
Outside of academia, she thoroughly enjoys writing and interviewing stemming from her media background, as well as advocating for persons with disabilities and women. As a first-gen, she aspires to become a Professor and contribute immensely to academia with her research, and hopefully positively inspire her younger ones to explore higher education.
