A showcase of student learning, reflection, creativity, and civic engagement from the 2025 Journey Toward Justice cohort.
During the 2026 Journey Toward Justice experience, students explored the history and ongoing impact of the Civil Rights Movement through travel, dialogue, reflection, and community engagement. Throughout the course, students examined issues of justice, equity, and civic responsibility while developing skills in research, critical thinking, collaboration, and storytelling.
The projects below represent the voices and perspectives of this year's cohort and serve as a reflection of their learning journey.

I learned a lot of the violence that occurred during the movement that is un unfortunately untaught. I have respect for Dr. King's methods of nonviolence and their composure throughout the March that became Bloody Sunday.
The takeaway for the day is the importance of unity and coming together when trying to make change. I found this and the conversations had at Tabernacle Baptist Chruch. These problems aren't impossible to overcome, but they do require the continuation of unity, education, preservation of history as well.
Dr. Martin Luther King's speech for little girls was super powerful to me; he referred to little girls as princesses in a universal way and shined the light on how young they were in a way people as a whole would understand.
