Research and Scholarship
Research is the foundation of the Institute on Black Life's mission to generate knowledge, strengthen communities, and advance solutions to the issues affecting Black life on campus, within the community, and throughout world. The Institute fosters innovative, community-engaged scholarship by supporting faculty, students, and community partners in developing competitive research projects, securing external funding, and translating research into a meaningful force for impact. By investing in researchers, building sustainable partnerships, mentorship, and cultivating innovative ideas, the Institute helps transform promising concepts into funded initiatives that advance scholarship and improve lives.
As a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, the Institute brings together scholars, students, practitioners, and community organizations to address complex challenges through diverse perspectives and expertise. Whether supporting existing faculty or cultivating the next generation of scholarly researchers, the Institute on Black Life is always welcoming innovative ideas that advance research excellence and create lasting impact within Black communities and beyond.
